Let the payment itself close the deal. Ask for money when you send the proposal, later in the project, or on a change order β and never start a job that isn't funded.
Four steps, and the money is in your account
Connect Stripe
Link your Stripe account once. If you don't have one, you create it during setup.
Request payment
Ask for the full amount on the proposal, or for an outstanding cost at any point later.
The customer pays
By card, or with Vipps in Norway. No login, no account number to look up.
Money lands with you
Straight into your own Stripe account, with the payment tied to the project it belongs to.
Payments run on Stripe Connect. Dealight never holds your money.
Three moments you can ask for money
With the proposal
Request the full amount up front. Paying is how the customer accepts β instead of signing, they pay.
Later in the project
Send a payment request for any outstanding cost. Card payment makes it easy for the customer to settle quickly.
On a change order
Extra work can carry its own payment request, so additional scope is agreed and funded the same way.
Stripe's fee, plus 0.1%
Payments go through Stripe, which charges its standard transaction fee. Dealight adds a further 0.1%, deducted before the money reaches your account.
Stripe's transaction fee
Varies by card type and payment method, and changes over time. Always check Stripe for current rates.
Dealight: 0.1%
A flat share on top of Stripe's fee. No monthly cost for prepayment, and no setup fee.
When prepayment isn't the right tool
Large amounts
We don't recommend prepayment above roughly 100,000 NOK / SEK. Fees become significant, and an invoice or milestone-based payment plan usually serves both sides better.
Your industry may limit it
Prepayment from consumers generally has to be expressly agreed, and some trades cap the advance at a small share of the total β around 10%, for example.
Dealight never touches the money
The payment is between you and Stripe, through Stripe Connect. We keep it tied to the proposal, the project and the documentation.
Rules vary by trade, contract type and standard agreements. As the business owner you are responsible for knowing what applies to you β check with your industry association or a legal adviser if you're unsure.
Try it on your next proposal
See how it works with your own numbers β we'll walk you through it.
